Why streak-free glass is so hard on the coast

On the Costa Blanca, glass has it tough. The tap water is very hard and, as it dries, leaves a whitish lime haze. The sea breeze deposits salt that mixes with dust into a sticky film. And Saharan dust tops it off. The result is that cleaning with a cloth and supermarket glass spray almost always streaks and marks as it dries. We work with professional technique: an applicator to loosen the dirt and a squeegee to pull the water off in one motion, so it doesn’t sit there drying into streaks.

Windows, screens, enclosures and glass walls

We clean glass inside and out, frames and beading, glazed terrace enclosures, shower screens and large living-room glass walls. Shower screens with years of caked lime need a specific descaler and sometimes an anti-lime treatment afterwards so water runs off and they take longer to mark again. On enclosures and sliding windows we also clean the tracks and runners, where sand and dust gather and then dirty the glass every time you open it.

Fly screens, blinds and high windows

Fly screens hold a lot of dust and pollen and are best cleaned at the same time as the glass; we take them out where possible, wash them and refit them. Exterior blinds and their housings collect the area’s sand. For high windows, skylights or double-height glass walls we use a telescopic pole with a professional head and safe access, so you don’t need to climb any ladder.

When and how often

For a lived-in home, a thorough window clean every 2-3 months keeps the glass clear. On the seafront, where salt attacks harder, more often is better. It’s a popular service before hosting guests, before photos for a rental listing, or as a one-off complement to regular cleaning. We give a fixed price by the number and accessibility of windows and everything carries a 30-day guarantee.

FAQ

Why do my windows always streak when I clean them?

Because of hard water and coastal salt, which leave a haze as they dry, and cleaning with a cloth. We use a professional applicator and squeegee to pull the water off before it dries into marks.

Can you reach high windows or double-height glass walls?

Yes, with a telescopic pole and professional head, and safe access equipment when needed. You don’t need to climb any ladder.

Do you remove caked lime from shower screens?

Yes, with a specific descaler. If the lime has built up over years it may need an extra treatment and then an anti-lime so it takes longer to reappear.

Do you clean fly screens and blinds too?

Yes. We take screens out where possible, wash and refit them, and clean blind tracks and housings where the area’s sand collects.

How often should the glass be cleaned?

In a lived-in home, thoroughly every 2-3 months. On the seafront, more often due to salt. Also as a one-off before guests or rental photos.
