Why post-construction cleaning isn’t a normal clean

After a renovation or in a new build, building dust is nothing like household dust. It’s extremely fine, a mix of plaster, cement, silica and sawdust, and it works its way into every gap, on top of cupboards, inside electrical boxes, into blind tracks and radiators. The telltale sign is that it comes back: you clean a surface, look again an hour later and there’s another layer, because the airborne dust is still settling. That’s why post-construction cleaning follows a set order, top to bottom, with several passes, not a quick wipe.

Removing paint, plaster, silicone and cement residue

Beyond the dust, stuck residue needs technique so as not to damage the new materials. Paint spots on floors and glass, cement or tile-adhesive marks, silicone residue on bathroom and kitchen joints, labels and protective film on taps and sanitaryware, plaster marks on tiles. Each needs its own product and method: the right scraper for glass, the correct solvent for paint depending on whether it’s emulsion or gloss, a gentle descaler for cement. Done wrong it scratches the floor or leaves a haze on the glass, so we always use a product compatible with each finish.

The process, top to bottom

We start with ceilings, light fittings, air vents and the tops of cupboards, where the finest dust gathers. Then walls, doors, frames, skirting, radiators and blind tracks. Next the interior and exterior joinery, glass inside and out, taps and sanitaryware. We finish with the floors, done last because they catch everything that falls during the process: thorough vacuuming, mopping with a neutral product and, if needed, a second mop to lift the last building haze.

Ready to live in, with a guarantee

The result is a home ready to move into or hand over to a tenant or buyer, with no dust reappearing two days later and no residue on glass or taps. We do a free prior assessment to give you a fixed price by area and state, because building work leaves more residue than a simple repaint. All work carries a 30-day guarantee.

FAQ

How long does post-construction cleaning take?

A standard 70-90 m² flat usually takes half a day to a full day depending on state and residue. A full renovation takes longer than a repaint.

Why does dust reappear after cleaning?

Building dust is very fine and stays airborne. That’s why we do several passes top to bottom and leave floors for last, so it doesn’t come back two days later.

Do you remove paint and silicone from the glass?

Yes, with the right scraper and a compatible solvent so the glass isn’t scratched. We also remove labels and protective film from taps and sanitaryware.

Could it damage my new floors or finishes?

No, we choose a product compatible with each material (porcelain, marble, microcement, parquet) after the prior assessment. That’s exactly what avoids scratching or hazing new surfaces.

Do you give a fixed price?

Yes, after a free prior assessment by area and state. Work that leaves a lot of dust and cement costs more than a light refurbishment.
